Back at the end of the XIX century, domestic scientists began to investigate the nature of headache sensations that arise in the head. It was then that the first scientific works, devoted to the analysis of headaches, appeared. The scientists noted that individual anatomical features of each organism influenced the course of the disease in many respects. In their opinion, the painful condition is noticed not only in the soft parts of the head and numerous weaving of nerves, but also in the components of the cranial box and facial bones.
The headache is caused by brain injuries. The nature of the disease in some cases lies in the dysfunction of other systems and functional capabilities of the body. Headache requires a special approach to diagnosis – the attending physician carefully examines the symptoms and then prescribes treatment.
Probable causes of headache
Each person, at least once in his life, felt the discomfort that arises from a headache. Bad health associated with this disease appears in combination with acute respiratory colds, viral infections and influenza.
The sources of headache are: weather dependency (reaction to changes in weather conditions); failure of sleep mode; stress condition; overeating and no appetite; prolonged stay of the body in a hot environment; hypothermia; excessive physical activity; bad habits (smoking or alcohol abuse).
Other, no less important, provocateurs of headache – oxygen deprivation of the brain and its shells, pathological deviations of the neck or head. As a rule, head spasms are in many cases the only obvious symptom of other ailments.
Irritation of the brain membrane receptor is associated with irritation of the autonomic system of the brain and several types of nerves (trigeminal, vagus, lingual, skin), spinal cord in the neck and facial muscles. Malfunction of the nerve endings, irritation of the nervous system of the skull leads to very severe headaches.
Factors causing headaches are of different nature and manifestations, duration and frequency. The disease may catch a person in different areas of the head: the back of the head, whiskey or the neck. Headache sometimes occurs on its own, in other cases, it is supplemented by other symptoms of ill health. Headache is often accompanied by loss of consciousness, nausea, vomiting, spikes in blood pressure. Vision problems are also directly related to this disease. In order to make an accurate diagnosis, the doctor should take into account where the headache is located, its duration, accompanying symptoms and frequency to prescribe an effective treatment.
From case to case, the headache is encountered by absolutely healthy people. If a short-term attack has acquired a higher intensity, repeatability, consistency, you should consult a doctor for a consultation. This condition signals that you have a serious illness.
International classification of headache
Headache occurs due to: physical stress; due to external compression of the head; cluster pain; in migraine; after increased sexual activity; without structural damage to brain tissue; arising from brain damage of the head; as a result of vegetative and vascular diseases; in connection with taking/withdrawing medications; as a symptom of intracranial structures disease; as a symptom of intracranial structure disease; in case of bacterial infections; due to metabolic disorders; due to the pathology of cranial nerve plexuses.
If a severe headache is a symptom of another disease, it is a secondary disease. It complements the problems associated with injuries, intracranial diseases, infections, intoxications, metabolic disorders, unhealthy vessels. Headache may occur due to life-threatening illness (meningitis, brain tumors, subarachnoid hemorrhages, strokes). Second headache is caused by the abuse of drinks containing caffeine, and refusal to take painkillers. Often, doctors diagnose a hybrid type of pain syndrome: overvoltage plus a secondary symptom in the form of migraine.
